Sardinia is probably the best destination in Europe if you are interested in sun, sea, and warm days. The beauty of Sardinia always captures and keeps tourists, giving them an experience of paradise on earth as they move around with Palma private transfers.

There are three ways to enter Sardinia by air. From the northeast, one can land in Alghero Fertlia Airport; from the south, there is Cagliari Airport; and from the northwest is the Olbia Airport. Here in this article, we will only focus on Alghero Airport because entering through this airport is an experience on its own.

Also called Fertilia Airport, Alghero Airport is about 12 kilometers from the city of Alghero. The planes that use this airport are Thomson and RyanAir which depart from the UK.

Upon arrival in Sardinia, you will first see only two baggage carousels, ATM machines, an information desk, a meeting room, a post office, and a tourist help desk. However, in the departure area, this airport has 7 gates and 17 check-in counters. Unfortunately, you need to keep your luggage with you always as this airport does not have facilities to store your baggage.

There are about 12 car rental companies at the airport. You may be familiar with some of them: Hertz, Europcar, Avis, AM Service, Easycar, Eurorent, Maggiore, Ruviolo, Thrifty, Sardinia, Midarent, and Sicily. If you plan to rent a car from any of these rental companies, do not rush through the process. Have them explain all the charges, which would include insurance, tires, fuel, and windscreen covers.

If you do not plan to drive around Sardinia, there are other ways to go around the area. You can usually find a shuttle bus or airport transfers that will bring you straight to your hotel.

If you are really interested in keeping your dollars in your pocket, then the cheap airport buses will be your best bet. It is about 100 meters from the airport exit. You can buy your bus ticket at the arrival hall. Just proceed to the souvenir shop. The bus ticket costs less than 1 Euro.

With the airport bus, it will take you about 20 minutes to the city downtown area, and a little bit longer to other areas like Nuoro, Santino, Sassari, Cagliari, Bosa, and S. Teresa Gallina. If your final destination is none of these areas, then you will need to go on the Alghero Airport trains to connect to other areas in Sardinia.

If you want and do not want to struggle through the transfers and connecting routes, then there are airport taxis outside the airport. You will need to pay a much higher amount to get to the Alghero center.

Alghero Airport is a quaint and interesting place to start your holiday in Sardinia. There are refreshments and restaurants if you are not too picky. Here, the flavor of Sardinia starts to show, and you will find yourself captivated by the people.

Sardinia is no doubt a great place to visit. The beaches alone will entice you with its sheer shades of blues and greens amidst a city full of history and vigor.
